Military parades and solemn processions involving armaments and military equipment were held in the Russian Federation on 9 May to mark the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Solemn events were held in more than 300 cities and towns. In total, more than 150,000 people took part in them, to include 90,000 servicemen from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and more than 60,000 servicemen from other security departments and public organisations.
More than 2,500 units of armaments, special and military equipment, including 121 aircraft, were involved in military parades, solemn processions and static exhibitions.
Military parades were held on 9 May 2024 in hero cities and in cities where the headquarters of military districts, the Baltic, Northern and Pacific Fleets and the headquarters of military units are stationed.
Solemn events in honour of Victory Day were also held at military bases in Kant (Kyrgyz Republic), Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan), Sukhum (Republic of Abkhazia) and Tskhinvali (Republic of South Ossetia).
In the evening at 22.00 local time in the cities of military parades will be held festive salutes, and in the rest of the cities — festive fireworks.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces supported by Army aviation and artillery strikes conduct reconnaissance-search actions to locate and eliminate the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups in forest belts attempting to get to the depth of the Russian territory to the south of Alekseyevskoye, Safonovka, and Sheptukhovka.
▫️Attacks launched by assault detachments of the AFU 22nd, 61st, and 115th mechanised brigades, and 82nd Air Assault Brigade toward Komarovka, Olgovka, Russkoye, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye were repelled. From 15 to 21 February, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out 11 group strikes by long-range air-, ground-, and sea-based high-precision weapons, and by unmanned aerial vehicles, which hit the facilities of the gas-power and port infrastructure, as well as electrical substations that support the work of the Ukrainian defence industry.
